Invisalign: the subtle way to get your teeth straightened
Over the past decade or two, there have been enormous advancements in the technology and materials used to make appliances to straighten teeth. This means that you no longer have to wear cumbersome metal braces for a year or two to realign your teeth, unless you have some serious problems with your bite.
Most people do not have such issues, but they do have teeth that have grown through wonkily, and they would like to line up their crowded, gappy or crooked teeth. This kind of treatment is not available on the NHS, and, for this reason, in the UK many teenagers have grown into adulthood wishing they could have straighter teeth.
Clear braces, also known as clear aligners, allow you to straighten your teeth discreetly but effectively, with far less imposition to your lifestyle. The world’s best known clear braces are called Invisalign. Graham Tinker in London has years of experience in bringing out the best in his patients’ smiles with Invisalign.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign clear aligners are made from clear acrylic and are designed to closely hug your teeth, making them almost impossible to be seen by others. With Invisalign, Graham Tinkler in London has the expertise to guide you along this journey to straighter teeth.
They are made using scanning technology to make a 3D model image of your teeth. From this a series of clear aligners is designed. You wear each one for about two weeks before replacing it with the next one in the series. The pressure from each aligner gradually nudges your teeth into alignment. The process takes between one year and 18 months, provided your wear the aligners for the required 22 hours a day.
Invisalign technology is designed to be removable, making eating, brushing and flossing a whole lot easier.
